Tides Center is the nation’s largest fiscal sponsor of progressive initiatives and the sector’s leading sponsor of social change. Tides Center currently operates nearly 200 projects nationwide. As of 2006, Tides Center has operated over 800 projects.

Tides Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, legally and financially responsible for all Tides Center projects and activities. Projects are not separate entities or affiliated organizations—projects are Tides Center. Because they are an integral part of Tides Center and not separate legal entities, projects are able to receive charitable donations and grants available only to tax-exempt organizations.

Tides Center’s fiscal sponsorship encompasses:

• Inclusion in the corporate, legal structure of Tides Center
• Federal and state tax exemption for income and property tax purposes
• State registration for fundraising
• Contributions typically tax-deductible for donors
• Grants from private foundations do not impose expenditure responsibility or other onerous reporting obligations on the foundation
