Civic engagement
Traction supports change toward a healthy society by engaging young people in civic life and a robust democratic process. Traction was started in early 2005 by a group of engaged citizens in their 20s and 30s. Noticing our common experience of consistently being the youngest person, by far, in our respective civic circles (nonprofit boards, city/state advisory committees, community/neighborhood associations, etc.), many of us had become alarmed and concerned for the health of our society over the coming decades.
