The Summer of Peace (SoP) is a San Francisco Bay-Area initiative that aims to foster a culture of peace by facilitating the development of a multi-sector collaborative network and hosting our first summer-long series of festivities and inspirational events in 2010. The overarching purpose of the Summer of Peace is to foster the expression of a healthy, prosperous, and sustainable society. The SoP will achieve this by offering core services in alliance building, networking, and organizational development. The periodic summer series of festivities and inspirational events will serve as an expression of the year-round multi-sector programmatic initiatives. We are looking to facilitate structures that have deep long-lasting impacts rather than simply creating a temporary “feel-good” summer of events.Our primary goal is to build alliances, networks, and programs that produce long-lasting results that are measurable, observable, and repeatable. Once the framework and event templates have been established in the Bay area, the SoP can then replicate to other cities and regions both nationally and internationally.
