To avoid the worst-case scenarios of ecological overshoot, humanity must achieve ecological “profitability” by 2040. One Planet Living's goal is to accelerate the most optimistic, rapid reduction scenario. One Planet USA is a network led by sustainability experts BioRegional, helping forward-thinking municipalities and real estate developers build neighborhoods that reduce the ecological footprint of residents to a truly sustainable, “one planet” level, and create municipal policies that will propagate these achievements at a city scale. Our long-term mission: REDUCE ecological footprint of the development’s residents by 80% by 2020 MARKET the projects aggressively with a national/global media campaign EDUCATE tens of thousands of annual visitors at on-site eco-tourism center, especially policy makers and influential building professionals. PROVE truly sustainable living is achievable & profitable with monitoring/data ACHIEVE global footprint reduction by 2040, averting worst-case climate change scenarios
