Make a DonationThe Center for Digital TV and the World is an outgrowth of the Digital TV and the World special project created at the University of California, Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism to experiment with new forms of global television reporting aimed for web distribution, broadcast, and other multimedia platforms.In-depth international reporting has shriveled in recent years. There is both a pressing need and an opportunity — using cheaper, lightweight, portable technology (small-format digital cameras and laptop computer editing systems) — to produce compelling, intimate reportage about the challenges ordinary people face around the world. The project goal is to develop and promote new training and production models for broad distribution – in many media across many platforms – so that mass audiences, as well as small ones, in America are informed about our connections to the world. The Center gives a fresh voice to people who live in diaspora communities across California by telling their stories; and to make sense of their connections to the world by traveling and reporting from the countries where they or their families originate.
