The proposed Air Quality Fellowship gives one individual the opportunity to work side-by-side with high-ranking ARB professionals on the cutting-edge air-quality issues of the day. The selected fellow is placed within the Chairman's Office and interacts with the managers responsible for community health, science and technology, communications, outreach, and business assistance. The fellow learns first-hand how air quality science, technology, and policy are brought together in a practical context. Just as importantly, the fellow brings valuable insight to the staff as to how ARB's efforts affect local communities and how they are perceived. The underlying goal of this exchange is to build understanding and trust, and, with that, the overall effectiveness of ARB's community-related programs.
