California Adolescent Nutrition and Fitness Program

The California Adolescent Nutrition and Fitness (CANFit) Program is a statewide project whose mission is to engage communities and build their capacity to improve the nutrition and physical activity status of California´s low-income African American, American Indian, Latino, Asian American, and Pacific Islander youth 10-14 years old.

Honor the Earth

The mission of Honor the Earth is to be a voice for the earth, and to support Indigenous communities and lifeways on this earth through strategic campaigns on environmental justice, youth leadership development, regranting, and nurturing sustainable and culturally-based communities. Honor the Earth develops these resources by using music, the arts, media, and Indigenous wisdom to ask people to recognize our joint dependency on the earth and be a voice for those who are not heard.

Lineage Project

The Lineage Project teaches at-risk and incarcerated New York City teenagers awareness-based practices, such as yoga and meditation, to help consciously manage stress, increase self-awareness, and cultivate compassion and commitment to nonviolent engagement with their communities.

Oasis for Girls

Oasis for Girls provides culturally relevant and gender specific arts, leadership, and life skills programs that support the growth of low-income and immigrant girls and young women in urban communities. Through these programs, girls and young women have access to a community of adult mentors who support them in creating change and integrating their skills to address issues they may face in their lives and in their communities.

Peaceful Tomorrows

Peaceful Tomorrows is an organization founded by family members of those killed on September 11th who have united to turn their grief into action for peace. By developing and advocating nonviolent options and actions in the pursuit of justice, they hope to break the cycles of violence engendered by war and terrorism. Acknowledging the common experience with all people affected by violence throughout the world, they work to create a safer and more peaceful world for everyone.

Raising Voices

Raising Voices is a small, results-oriented organization based in Kampala, Uganda. It is recognized regionally and internationally as a pioneer in preventative approaches with proven capacity for creative and practical programs. Raising Voices is regularly sought out by a variety of international organizations and decision-makers to consult on program design and development, provide technical support and capacity building on violence against women and children, and human rights.

Sprout Fund

The Sprout Fund supports innovative ideas and grassroots community projects that are catalyzing change in Pittsburgh. Sprout works to foster and nurture community-driven solutions toward the common vision of a region that is thriving, progressive, and culturally diverse--a region which can better attract and retain its young talent. Since 2001, through its Seed Award and Public Art programs, Sprout has supported, catalyzed, and facilitated community-led solutions for positive regional change.

Union Square Awards

The Union Square Awards program was established in 1998 to recognize and support innovative grassroots projects and organizations responding to pressing social issues in New York City. Believing that these organizations strengthen local communities and make vital contributions to the educational, economic, and cultural life of the city, the program extends support to projects and organizations that have not yet received substantial funding or recognition.

Women Pushing Forward

The mission of Women Pushing Forward is to enable women with disabilities around the world to increase wheeled mobility options for themselves and others through collaborations involving wheelchair building, mentoring, and support. Women Pushing Forward seeks to combine the strength, innovation, and determination of women with disabilities to define for themselves the best solutions to the complex problems of disabled people in the developing world.
