The Agape Foundation is a non-profit public foundation which raises and distributes funds to groups working for nonviolent change. Agape offers seed grants and technical assistance to encourage new projects and provides project grants, organizational services, fundraising advice, and access to other skills which ongoing groups need to become self-supporting. The Public Health Institute (PHI) is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting health, well-being and quality of life for people throughout California, across the nation and around the world. Trees Foundation works for the conservation and restoration of the ecological integrity of forest ecosystems by assisting, supporting and promoting Affiliate groups in North Coastal California. MidAmerica Leadership Foundation, a Christian institution, transforms Chicago's impoverished communities by equipping local leaders with the tools necessary to turn their visionary ideals into viable and self-sustaining organizations. MidAmerica's Community Program incubates emerging not-for-profit community agencies that wish to meet the pressing needs in their own communities. Community Programs staff provides one-on-one consulting in virtually all areas in which start-ups need help but cannot afford. In addition, monthly workshops provide opportunities for people of vision in all the programs to come together to discuss issues of common interest and share information and resources with one another. MLF administrative staff provides accounting services (including receipting for donations), oversight of financial systems, personnel services for program staff, monthly financial reports and a unified audit. MLF fundraising staff provides consultation and proposal writing to each new program. The objective of the incubation process is that a new program emerges as an independent not-for-profit organization.
